We’re two siblings from Porirua, creatively shaped by our Pacific heritage - Fiji (Cautata, Tailevu & Muani, Kadavu), Tokelau (Nukunonu), and Samoa (Leauva’a). We create handcrafted cultural goods for our Pacific communities.
We began making our own salusalu and masi kesa for family events during the COVID19 lockdown in Aotearoa because these items became hard to get our hands on. We then relied on our craft skills, Bubu's knowledge, and the materials we had at home to create what our family needed.
Our friends and family then wanted our pieces for their celebrations too, so what started as a practical solution for our family, grew into The Makete Stall. |
Inspired by the spirit of the markets we grew up around, a place where our people come together to find what they need. Just like a market stall, we offer a little bit of everything, made with intention by us.
Our mission is simple: to bring tradition closer to you through locally handcrafted pieces that celebrate heritage and creativity.
The Makete Stall. A little bit of everything, all in one place. |
Thank you for supporting our journey!
